World Book Day Competition

world book day logo

In the UK and Ireland World Book Day is on Thursday 3rd March 2011. The charity initiative was introduced to encourage children's reading of books and is supported by schools, nurseries, play groups, libraries etc. P's nursery usually held fancy dress days and had visitors in fromthe library to read to the children as well as holding competitions. Now that she is at school it has gone a bit quiet about the campaign and we just get the money off voucher sent home but P loves reading so instead I love to fill the day with once she gets home with activities linked to her favourties stories.

This month we have kindly been offered a fab book hamper from The Book People for one lucky reader! This great company offer a variety of books for adults and children at sale prices. Many of their book come as book collections with further reductions and make ideal gifts for Birthdays and Christmas. 1. Hi, I'm an Aussie mum so don't worry about entering me in the competition, I just wanted to share our storytelling bag of The Very Hungry Caterpillar. It is my son's favourite book and he just loves his little 'catapiya bag'.

  2. My link isn't strictly about one book, but it is about learning to read and learning to love reading so as I have broken the rules don't enter me! I just wanted to share it as reading is such an important skill!
